Wasps can nest in roof voids, wall cavities and garden structures. Activity becomes more noticeable around food and drinks in warm months.
Signs to look for
- Repeated wasp flight to one hole
- Buzzing in a wall or roof void
- Wasps around bins or outdoor dining
- Visible paper nest
Risks
- Painful stings
- Risk to allergic people
- Disruption to outdoor dining or guest areas
Prevention
- Keep bins sealed
- Clear fallen fruit
- Seal old nest entry points after treatment
- Avoid disturbing active nests
