Oriental cockroach
A larger dark cockroach often linked with drains, damp voids and ground-floor areas. In Cyprus it can enter buildings from external harbourage.
Signs to look for
- Large dark cockroaches near drains
- Musty odour in damp areas
- Droppings around floor-wall junctions
- Activity in basements, plant rooms or yards
Risks
- Movement from drains into clean zones
- Customer complaints
- Contamination of storage areas
Prevention
- Keep drains maintained
- Reduce damp harbourage
- Seal door gaps
- Manage refuse areas
When to call PPS
- Cockroaches appear from drains
- Activity is seen in commercial back-of-house areas
- You need source tracing rather than surface spraying
