Drain flies
Small fuzzy flies that breed in organic film inside drains, gullies and wet cracks. Surface sprays rarely solve the source.
Signs to look for
- Tiny moth-like flies near sinks
- Activity after drains are unused
- Larvae in drain slime
- Flies resting on bathroom or kitchen walls
Risks
- Nuisance in kitchens and bathrooms
- Indicator of drain hygiene issues
- Recurring activity without drain cleaning
Prevention
- Clean drains mechanically
- Flush low-use drains
- Repair cracked grout or wet voids
- Keep floor drains maintained
When to call PPS
- Flies persist after drain cleaning
- A food or guest area is affected
- The breeding source is hard to locate
